Massachusetts Fuel Assistance Program

The state of Massachusetts participates in a Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for residents in need.  Eligible MA residents can use the program to help lower the costs associated with heating their home or rental apartment.  The program covers just about all sources of home heating, including the costs of oil, electricity, natural gas, propane, kerosene, wood and coal.

Households must apply for this program each year, as coverage does not extend more than a year. Applications are accepted from November 1 - April 30 of the program year.  Applicants who are not approved for the program have the right to appeal through the local fuel assistance agency.

The program is managed by the state of Mass. Housing and Economic Development Office.  See their website to apply, find contact information, find program information, see phone numbers and to learn more about the Mass LIHEAP.
