The state of Pennsylvania has a program to allow PA residents to receive grants and funds to help pay their heating bills during the winter. Funds can be used by households and residents to pay for electric heating bills or oil heat/fuel if that is not affordable to the resident.
The assistance program, officially called Pennsylvania Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), does not require participants to be enrolled in the Cash Assistance program, another program managed by the State of Pennsylvania.
People who are interested must qualify for the program, and they must send an application to the state. See the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare website for program rules, benefits, application, phone numbers and other contact information.
